Ultraviolette has launched the X-47 Venom in India: Rs 2.65 lakh, 343 km of claimed range, 155 km/h top speed, deliveries from November 2026, bookings open since 22 October 2026. But the headline hides two catches. Rs 2.65 lakh applies only to the first 5,000 buyers — after that, the base variant costs Rs 3 lakh — and the 343 km figure belongs only to the larger-battery variants costing Rs 3.75 lakh and more.
This is not a facelift. The Venom is the first motorcycle on Ultraviolette's new VX-100 platform, a 100-volt architecture the Bengaluru company says will underpin future models. The real question is narrower than the launch hype: which variant fits your riding, and what should you confirm in writing before you pay?
- Starting price: Rs 2.65 lakh ex-showroom, Bengaluru, for the first 5,000 buyers; Rs 3 lakh after that.
- Range: 227 km (IDC) with the 7.5 kWh battery; 343 km (IDC) with the 11 kWh battery.
- Performance: 30 kW motor, 0 to 100 km/h in a claimed 5.9 seconds, 155 km/h top speed.
- Deliveries: from November 2026.
- Watch out: cruise control, radar and the dashcam are not on every variant, and your charger changes your charging time.
Price and variants: what Rs 2.65 lakh actually buys
All prices below are ex-showroom in Bengaluru. On-road prices elsewhere will be higher once registration, insurance and charger options are added, so treat these as starting points, not final bills.
- X-47 Venom — Rs 2.65 lakh introductory, Rs 3 lakh after the first 5,000 buyers: 7.5 kWh battery, 227 km IDC range, and the core Venom package.
- X-47 Venom+ — Rs 3.15 lakh: same 7.5 kWh battery and 227 km range, with more equipment including the onboard charger.
- X-47 Recon — Rs 3.75 lakh: 11 kWh SRB-11 battery, 343 km IDC range, and the longer-legged setup.
- X-47 Venom Recon+ — Rs 3,99,900: 11 kWh battery and 343 km range with the full equipment list.
Some reports put the ceiling at about Rs 4.12 lakh once charger configurations are included — a warning that the variant price and the charger price are two separate decisions, so ask the dealer to quote both in writing. If you are within the first 5,000 bookings, the base bike is genuinely cheaper; if you are not, compare the Venom at Rs 3 lakh with the Venom+ at Rs 3.15 lakh, because that small gap may buy equipment that matters more than the saving. Colours are Afterburner Yellow, Turbo Red, Cosmic Black and Stellar White, varying by variant.
Range and performance: reading the 343 km claim honestly
The Venom is really two different motorcycles depending on battery. The 7.5 kWh pack is rated at 227 km under the Indian Driving Cycle (IDC); the 11 kWh SRB-11 pack at 343 km. Both are laboratory-cycle claims, not promises: speed, riding mode, traffic, gradients, weight and temperature all pull real range down, and sustained highway speeds pull it down sharply. No independent, instrumented real-world test had been published at the time of writing.
What the platform change does deliver is measurable elsewhere. The base bike now weighs 180 kg, roughly 17 to 20 kg less than the outgoing X-47, and the Recon 195 kg, about 13 kg less despite a bigger battery. The new battery is 25 percent more energy-dense and 15 percent lighter, with cooling performance doubled. The fastest Ballistic riding mode now stays available down to 10 percent charge instead of 30 percent, and regenerative braking now works from 99 percent charge instead of 90 percent.
Performance is evolutionary. The new UV Lightfury motor makes 30 kW (about 40 bhp) and 90 Nm of motor torque, with 550 Nm at the rear wheel. Claimed 0 to 60 km/h is unchanged at 2.7 seconds, but 0 to 100 km/h drops to 5.9 seconds, about 2.2 seconds quicker than before, and top speed rises from 145 km/h to 155 km/h. Seat height stays at 820 mm — sit on it before booking if you are short.
Charging: the detail that decides daily usability
This is where buyers should slow down: the Venom has three chargers and three very different waiting times. The headline "12 kW DC fast charging" is a platform capability, but the times most owners will actually live with are the AC ones.
- Portable standard charger (1.3 kW) — 20 to 80 percent: 3 hours 45 minutes for the 7.5 kWh battery; 5 hours 30 minutes for the 11 kWh battery.
- Onboard charger (1.6 kW) — 20 to 80 percent: the same 3 hours 45 minutes and 5 hours 30 minutes; available only on the Venom+ and Recon+ variants.
- Boost charger (3 kW) — 20 to 80 percent: 1 hour 50 minutes for the 7.5 kWh battery; 2 hours 45 minutes for the 11 kWh battery.
Note one small regression: the standard charger's 20 to 80 percent time for the larger battery has crept up from 5 hours to 5 hours 30 minutes. Confirm which charger is included with your variant, what the Boost charger costs as an option, and where you will actually use DC fast charging — India's public network is still built overwhelmingly around cars and three-wheelers.
Safety tech and features: where the top variants earn their money
The Venom's most interesting equipment is also its most unevenly distributed. Dual-channel ABS, traction control and dynamic stability control are standard, but the headline features sit higher up the range.
- UV Hypersense rear radar (77 GHz): blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, overtake alert and rear-collision warning, on higher variants.
- 7-inch TFT touchscreen: navigation, front and rear cameras and an integrated dashcam on the top variants.
- Cruise control and camera-based park assist: limited to the top three variants, not the base bike.
- Violette AI package: movement, fall and towing alerts, remote lockdown, crash alerts and anti-collision warnings.
Should you book now? A pre-booking checklist
The Venom is a credible step forward, but it is also a first-batch product on a brand-new platform. That combination rewards a short pause more than a rushed booking.
- On-road price, not ex-showroom: registration, insurance and charger options itemised separately.
- Exact variant equipment: cruise control, radar, dashcam and park assist are variant-dependent.
- Which charger is included: and what the 3 kW Boost charger costs if optional.
- Warranty in writing: battery coverage in years and kilometres, and what voids it, before paying any booking amount.
- Delivery date in writing: November 2026 is a month, not a date.
- Ride it first: check the 820 mm seat height at a standstill and the weight when pushing it in and out of parking.
- Highway tourer? Wait for an independent range test: the 343 km figure is an IDC claim, and your highway number will be lower.
Buy it if you are an experienced rider who charges at home and the variant you want is genuinely in the first 5,000 bookings. Wait if your riding is mostly long highway distances and you need a proven real-world range figure. Either way, the Venom has moved the conversation for Indian electric motorcycles from "does it exist?" to "which variant, which charger, and what does it actually cost?"
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of the Ultraviolette X-47 Venom in India?
The X-47 Venom starts at Rs 2.65 lakh ex-showroom in Bengaluru for the first 5,000 buyers, rising to Rs 3 lakh after that. The full range is Rs 2.65 lakh to Rs 3,99,900 ex-showroom, with charger configurations reported to take the total to about Rs 4.12 lakh. On-road prices vary by city and charger.
What is the real-world range of the X-47 Venom?
The claimed IDC range is 227 km for the 7.5 kWh battery and 343 km for the 11 kWh battery. Real-world range will be lower, especially at sustained highway speeds, and no independent instrumented test had been published at the time of writing. Treat IDC as a comparison tool between variants, not a promise.
How long does the X-47 Venom take to charge?
With the standard 1.3 kW portable charger, 20 to 80 percent takes 3 hours 45 minutes for the 7.5 kWh battery and 5 hours 30 minutes for the 11 kWh battery. The optional 3 kW Boost charger cuts that to 1 hour 50 minutes and 2 hours 45 minutes respectively. The platform also supports up to 12 kW DC fast charging, subject to charger availability.
When will X-47 Venom deliveries begin?
Bookings opened on 22 October 2026 and deliveries are scheduled from November 2026. Ask for a written delivery date rather than a month, and confirm what happens to your booking amount if delivery slips.
What is the difference between the X-47 Venom Recon and Recon+?
Both use the 11 kWh battery and share the 343 km IDC range claim. The Recon+ costs Rs 24,900 more (Rs 3,99,900 versus Rs 3,75,000) and adds the onboard charger, front and rear dashcams, rear-camera park assist, and standard TPMS and Violette AI features. Want the full safety and camera package? Choose Recon+. Only want the bigger battery? Recon is cheaper.
